Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) is an introductory experience that lets you explore the underwater world without the need for a certification exam.
If you fall in love with the underwater world and want to explore freely around the globe, we recommend our 3 to 4-day Open Water Diver course. It’s the first step toward earning your internationally recognized certification and opening the door to the deep blue.
Introductory dives do not include the Blue Hole.
The Blue Hole is spectacular, but it drops to depths of over 30 meters, and the cave environment requires advanced light and spatial awareness. Per international safety standards, introductory dives are capped at 12 meters, so we cannot safely take you inside the Blue Hole.
We know the Blue Hole is incredibly alluring, but to ensure your first underwater experience is comfortable, bright, and open, we’ll take you to a shallow reef wall that’s just as rich in marine life. Once you’ve completed your Advanced Open Water (AOW) certification, the Blue Hole will be the perfect reason to come back to Palau.
We do not currently offer introductory dives at Blue Corner.
Blue Corner is one of Palau's most famous dive sites, but the environment is quite challenging. With unpredictable conditions and frequent strong currents, you need solid buoyancy control and experience handling currents to enjoy it safely.
For those new to diving, we prefer to choose calmer, more stable locations where you can relax, breathe easily, and truly enjoy the beauty of the ocean without any pressure. We highly recommend getting your official certification first, and then joining us to take on the challenge of Blue Corner.
Dive sites are selected by our instructors based on the day's sea conditions and safety requirements. If conditions permit, we may indeed head to the German Channel area.
However, we want to let you know in advance that the "cleaning stations" where mantas are most frequently spotted are usually at a depth of around 17 meters, which exceeds the safety limit for introductory dives (12 meters). Even if the boat reaches that area, our instructors must strictly adhere to depth regulations and cannot take you down to the cleaning station.
We would love for you to encounter these beautiful creatures, but whether you'll see a manta in shallower waters depends on nature and the day's conditions. Your safety is always our top priority, so let's hope for a lucky encounter within the safest possible limits.
To ensure the highest level of safety and comfort, we maintain a very low instructor-to-student ratio:
This small-group approach allows our instructors to monitor your every breath and movement, ensuring you feel completely at ease during your first time in the water. Your instructor will optimize the final ratio based on the day's sea conditions and each participant's comfort level.
You don't need to know how to swim to participate.
Scuba diving and swimming are different skills. As long as you're comfortable in the water and willing to follow your instructor's guidance, you'll have a great time.
A professional instructor will be by your side throughout the entire dive to help you manage your buoyancy and movement. Just relax, focus on your breathing, and enjoy the beautiful fish—we'll take care of all the safety details.
We’ll do our best to capture some memories for you.
If you’re feeling comfortable and safe underwater, your instructor will usually take some quick photos or videos of your experience. Please keep in mind, however, that your safety is our instructor's top priority. If the ocean conditions are challenging or if you need extra assistance, we may not be able to take photos.
Our discovery scuba trips typically include two dives a day, giving you plenty of time to get comfortable and enjoy the underwater world.
Trip Overview:
The actual itinerary may be adjusted based on sea conditions, currents, and how everyone is feeling on the day.
