Ulong Wall

ULONG WALL

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

Jackfish tornadoes, barracuda schools, eagle rays, groupers, grey reef sharks
Ulong Wall and Ulong Channel are located on the same reef flat, but they offer completely different diving experiences. Home to over 90 species of soft and hard corals, this site is a paradise for a dense variety of reef fish, offering a rich ecosystem and incredible depth of field. Ulong Wall is also one of the best spots in Palau to catch a jackfish tornado. Schools of jackfish often hover about 10 meters above divers, making it perfect for capturing stunning, wide-angle shots. Every winter, you might even spot schools of juvenile grey reef sharks patrolling near the wall. With its spectacular schools of fish, vibrant corals, and consistent visibility, Ulong Wall is a classic dive site that’s as beautiful to see as it is to photograph.

JAKE Type 0 Reconnaissance Seaplane

JAKE SEAPLANE

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

A remarkably intact WWII relic
The JAKE is a remarkably well-preserved Japanese Navy Aichi E13A-1 reconnaissance seaplane. Resting just a 5-minute boat ride off the coast of Koror, it sits securely on a sandy seabed at a depth of about 12 meters. Its propeller remains perfectly intact, suggesting it didn't crash but likely sank by other means. With its shallow depth and typically calm currents, this is an accessible dive site perfect for relaxed exploration and photography. As one of Palau's most iconic historical sites, the JAKE is more than just a wreck—it’s a silent underwater museum, bearing witness to wartime history and the memories of the sea.

Chandelier Cave

CHANDELIER CAVE

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

Limestone formations, Mandarin fish
Chandelier Cave is one of the most unique dive sites near Koror, tucked away in a cliffside and sculpted over millions of years. The entrance sits about 5–7 meters underwater, making this natural limestone cavern accessible only to divers. Inside, you’ll find four separate chambers, each filled with stalactites featuring distinct shapes, textures, and signs of age. With no natural light, the cave is pitch black; as your dive light sweeps across the columns and water, it creates a dramatic, theater-like atmosphere. The shifting tides and reflections ensure that every visit offers a completely unique experience.

Siaes Tunnel

SIAES TUNNEL

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

Large sea fans, various soft and hard corals, and schools of jack fish
Located on the northwest side of Ulong Island, Siaes Tunnel is a natural tunnel hidden within a cliff. The entrance sits at about 25 meters, and the tunnel spans roughly 100 meters in length. You'll often find schools of jack fish at the bottom, and there's a good chance of spotting nurse sharks and lemon sharks. The exit is covered in large sea fans and a variety of colorful soft corals, making it a truly unique dive site.

Grey reef sharks, blacktip reef sharks, silvertip sharks, bumphead parrotfish, chevron barracuda, crescent-tail bigeye
Siaes Corner is a cape located in the Ulong area. Unlike Blue Corner, the coral here is diverse and pristine. Currents can be strong, making it a great spot to hook in and watch the shark show. From November to February, you might see schools of dozens to over a hundred sharks! You’ll also frequently spot sea goldies, fusiliers, and various reef sharks.

New Drop-off

NEW DROP-OFF

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

Sea fans, gray reef sharks, blacktip reef sharks, silvertip sharks, humphead wrasse, hawksbill turtles, midnight snappers, cornetfish, and various reef fish
Another famous "shark spot" besides Blue Corner, located on a different cape of the same reef plateau. While not as well-known as Blue Corner, you can still spot many of the same marine life here, including gray reef sharks, oceanic whitetip sharks, schools of jackfish, tuna, and humphead parrotfish. Due to the terrain, upwellings and downwellings are common, so keep a close eye on your safety and orientation. The strong currents bring in plenty of nutrients, covering the area below 25 meters with beautiful sea fans and soft corals. Although the coral plateau doesn't have a high density of hard corals, it's a frequent hangout for green sea turtles and hawksbill turtles, making it a popular spot for turtle sightings.

GERMAN CHANNEL

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

Manta rays, grey reef sharks, stingrays, eagle rays, leopard sharks, jackfish schools, barracuda schools
German Channel is one of Palau's most iconic dive sites, famous for its rich marine life and the chance to see manta rays up close. The channel features several cleaning stations where you can observe these majestic creatures circling as they get cleaned. As you move between stations, you'll often be joined by schools of jackfish and barracuda, adding plenty of action to your dive. On the sandy bottom, you might spot stingrays, whitetip reef sharks, and leopard sharks resting, while grey reef sharks often patrol the area. From giant mantas to massive schools of fish, German Channel is a classic, vibrant site that never gets old.

Blue Holes

BLUE HOLES

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

Unique cave topography, whitetip reef sharks, heart-shaped cave, electric clams
The Blue Holes are a must-visit dive site in Palau. We’ll start with a unique descent, dropping through a narrow opening in the reef shelf. On sunny days, light streams through the top of the cave, creating a mysterious and stunning "angel light" effect. Nearby, there’s a lesser-known spot called the "Heart Cave." It’s actually a shallow cavern, but if you shoot from a specific angle, you can capture a perfect heart shape—it’s the ultimate photo op.

Blue Corner

BLUE CORNER

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

Gray reef sharks, blacktip reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse, jack fish schools, chevron barracuda schools, pickhandle barracuda schools
Blue Corner is ranked as the world's number two dive site! Located on the edge of Palau's Rock Islands, this prominent underwater promontory features unique topography and powerful currents. The interaction of these currents and shifting tides makes it a hotspot for fish to feed and congregate. Diving at Blue Corner feels like riding a high-speed wave through a fantasy world; one moment you're watching a shimmering school of yellowtail fusiliers glide past the cliff, and the next, you're brushing shoulders with sharks. To enjoy the shark show with ease, have your reef hook ready so you can hover effortlessly above the plateau.

This highly popular spot is one of the few places in Palau where you can both snorkel and scuba dive. Beyond the vibrant mix of soft and hard corals, you'll find famous giant sea fans and schools of square-spot anthias. With sunlight streaming down on walls blanketed in colorful coral, it’s easy to see why they call this "God's Aquarium."
