Discover Scuba Diving

Dive into God's reef

Pacific: a fish's view.

Discover Scuba Diving

"Discover Scuba Diving" is designed for anyone interested in diving. As long as you aren't afraid of the water, you don't even need to know how to swim! Your instructor will be right by your side the whole time. Just relax, breathe slowly, and equalize your ears to enjoy your first up-close encounter with marine life.

The thalassophile club maintains a neutral stance on visiting Dolphin Bay. Generally, we oppose the captivity of marine mammals; however, the ecosystem at Dolphins Pacific is unique. We have personally inspected the environment and met the trainers, and we believe they are doing their best to care for the dolphins living there. That said, we completely respect your decision if you are firmly against any form of wildlife captivity.

Palau’s underwater world is incredibly vibrant. On a discovery dive, you’ll be guided by an instructor through a magical marine environment where you might spot coral reef fish, green sea turtles, sharks, and rays—and you’ll even have the chance to snap some photos with them!

Activity Details

Since Palau's dive sites are further from the main island, most trips (excluding inner lagoon sites) require a 30-40 minute boat ride each way. Diving is typically done in three-dive sets; once you head out in the morning, you'll stay out until the activities conclude. Lunch is served on the boat or at an uninhabited island, where you can enjoy a premium meal while overlooking the vast Pacific.

Dive sites near Koror are divided into four main areas: the Ngemelis area to the southwest, the Ulong area to the west, the Ngerchong area to the east, and the WWII wrecks in the inner lagoon.

Ngemelis Area

Located southwest of Koror, this area is about a 40-minute boat ride away. It features world-famous sites like Blue Corner, the manta-frequented German Channel, and the Blue Holes, which are perfect for capturing those iconic "angel light" photos. These are must-see spots you won't want to miss.

Dive Sites: Blue Corner, Blue Holes, German Channel, Turtle Wall, Small Blue Hole, Big Drop-Off, New Drop-Off

Ulong Area‍

Located to the west, the Ulong area is about a 30-minute boat ride from the main island. It's a nursery for marine life, where you'll often see adorable baby sharks and rays. The Ulong Channel, with its vibrant coral reefs, is also one of the world's premier drift diving spots.

Dive Sites: Ulong Channel, Siaes Corner, Siaes Tunnel, Shark City, City of Glass

NGERCHONG AREA

Located east of Koror, this area is about a 40-minute boat ride away. While not as famous as Ngemelis or Ulong, it hides many lesser-known gems. For instance, you can find baby gray reef sharks here from September to November, and the Small Drop-off is the perfect spot for a special "Nautilus viewing" dive.

Dive Sites: Ngerchong Wall, Ngerchong Coral Garden, Small Drop-off

Inner Lagoon Area

For divers interested in war history or photography, Palau’s waters are home to many remarkably well-preserved wrecks, with the Zero fighter plane and the Iro Maru being the most notable.

Dive Sites: Chandelier Cave, Jake Seaplane, Iro Maru Wreck, Hafa Adai Wreck, Helmet Wreck

Diving Guidelines

  • This is an introductory activity and does not provide a formal certification. The introductory dive fee includes all necessary equipment (including wetsuits); participants only need to bring their own swimwear and towels. The maximum depth for an introductory dive is 12 meters, with each dive lasting approximately 30–35 minutes. Boat rides to dive sites range from 30 to 50 minutes; if you are prone to seasickness, we recommend bringing your own motion sickness medication. Actual dive sites are determined based on the day's weather, currents, sea conditions, and the preferences and physical condition of the group. For safety reasons, the lead dive guide reserves the right to make the final decision. Please follow the guide's instructions during the activity and do not wander off from the group. Any costs or legal liabilities resulting from unauthorized departure or reckless behavior will be the sole responsibility of the individual. Please protect the ocean; do not touch coral or other marine life during your dive. Be mindful of your physical condition; please assess your fitness before diving if you are hungover, overly tired, or feeling unwell. Avoid consuming alcohol within eight hours before diving. Do not fly within 12 hours of a single dive or within 18 hours of repetitive dives. To protect coral reefs, Palau has banned sunscreens containing ingredients harmful to coral. We recommend physical sun protection (wearing rash guards and hats) instead of sunscreen. Please avoid wearing makeup, and if you must use sunscreen, please choose "reef-safe" products.

Cancellations made 1–3 days before departure: 70% of the total trip cost. Cancellations on the day of departure, failure to arrive on time, unauthorized departure from the group, or no-shows: No refunds. If the costs already incurred by our company to fulfill the contract exceed the percentages above, the traveler must pay the cancellation fee based on our actual expenses. All refunds are subject to the deduction of bank transfer fees.

2. Traveler Does Not Arrive in Palau — Due to flight delays or cancellations caused by natural disasters or force majeure (including but not limited to typhoons, heavy rain, thunderstorms, earthquakes, pandemics, sudden lockdowns, etc.)

Our company will assist in submitting applications but does not guarantee full refunds from suppliers. Our company is not liable for refunds.

3. Traveler Has Arrived in Palau — Activity cancellation due to weather or Palau NEMO maritime warnings (including maritime warnings issued by the Palau National Emergency Management Office (NEMO) prohibiting small vessels from going to sea, or other official safety restrictions)

  1. If diving activities are cancelled or partially unavailable due to the above reasons: Diving activity fees: Refunded after deducting incurred costs. Accommodation, meals, and other services: Handled according to supplier policies. Our company reserves the right to adjust the order of activities, substitute dive sites, or change the itinerary.

  1. Travelers who are unable to participate in all or part of the activities due to personal reasons will not be eligible for refunds, compensation, or alternative arrangements. Travelers may still join the remaining itinerary upon arrival.

5. Voluntary Withdrawal from Activities During the Trip

  • If a traveler chooses not to participate in scheduled activities (including meals, diving, transportation, sightseeing, etc.) during the trip, it is considered a voluntary withdrawal, and no refunds or compensation will be provided.

6. Travel Agency Responsibilities and Recommendations

  1. We strongly recommend that travel agencies advise travelers to purchase travel insurance that covers weather-related issues, flight delays, cancellations, and natural events.
  2. We reserve the right to adjust accommodations, transportation, meals, and other itinerary arrangements, provided that the quality remains at an equivalent level.
